In my own time~

Tue May 13, 2008, 2:03 PM
I wanted to update this a bit, since I haven't been doing like I said in the last entry, almost a year ago as I type this. A lot has changed in my life in that year. I haven't been active on here at all. I've tried to post my latest and older creations, but even that has been rare.

The main thing that has changed, is that I have the full support of my girlfriend, ~Freakeh. In the four months since we first got together a lot has changed about me. I'm more outgoing, and have tried new things when it comes to art. I'm still very much in love with her, and that won't change.

I even got my internship for uni through her. Starting in September I'll be invading her house for 6 months to work in a big community arts centre, where I can do everything and anything from lighting and sound at preformances, to helping in the gallery, to maintaining the site and creating leaflets. For me, the best thing is being with her there, obviously, but the fact that I have the position of my dreams is awesome.

You also may have noticed I've uploaded some pictures made with illustrator. I've begun working with it for a school project a few weeks back, and I've been playing with it, and discovering new things ever since. With a little luck I will get good at using it sometime in the future. Would be handy, since ~Freakeh and me have been working on our own (web?)comic together. We should get around to uploading the pages we have, sometime in the future. Is the first comic I've worked on, and so far it's been a lot of fun. I hope once I show it to the public, you guys will like it too. <3

It will probably be a while till my next entry here, so sorry in advance for this info being out of date. Right now I have more pressing matters to attend to, like referencing inside jokes and planning to make an oreo-cake.

I could say that it's been ages since I logged on here, but that would be an understatement. I've neglected you folks, and I hardly took any photos in the last two months (Rough estimate.)

College has been a real pain in the ass. From my team not working together, to the "help" we should get from teachers. All of it was so damn annoying that it consumed almost all of my time, and the rest of my time was spent relaxing with a wide range of games.
The project is coming to a close, at-freaking-last, so I will be on here more often, and pick up all of my favorite passtimes again.

All excuses and yapping aside, I'll hold a new feature soon. YOU, the reader of my journal has a chance to suggest who or what you want to see.

Start yer suggesters!

Feature time!

I recently made a little feature thread, focusing on Spring. Bright, happy and colorfull were the keywords I gave you, and I got some very diverse deviations. Picking the best ones was hard, but luckily *Picksy was there to help.

Check these artists out. You won't regret it. :)

Finally got my card in, first thing I did was get a sub. Don't really know what I can use it for, but I'll find out as I go. It kinda commits me to be more active on here which is a good thing. Discovering new artists and getting new ideas to play with.

I've been very busy at college the last week, and it'll only get worse for the next 18 weeks. I'm at a part of my major which they call 'NewB' and it's basicly a real life project, with an actual client, only I don't get payed for it. xD
Due to crappy stuff at the registering for a task me and some friends got stuck with the one nobody wanted. The cool ones went to our rivals, so to say. Now it's our job to follow other groups in their project and make a documentary about it. As half of the creative team in our group, I'll force a high speed photo slideshow in. What better way to combine business with pleasure.

Also I've bought a Tamron 70-300 F/4-5.6 a few days back. for only €140. I'm not an expert, but I'd say that's pretty cheap for a brand new lens. With it I can finally take some decent shots of the fields around my house and of the skyline back in good old Rotterdam. I'll probably revisit some more shots I did some time ago, like I did with [link]

Besides all that stuff, I've incresingly felt the need to leave Holland. I don't watch the news much lately but whenever I do there's some story that makes me lose all faith I ever had in politics or society. It often makes me want to move to another country. That wouldn't solve anything since these are the same issues that exist anywhere, but still. I've always been fond of the UK. If I'd know what I was good at and what I wanted to do, I'd try to find an internship position somewhere overseas.

Gawd, enough posting now. I should stop making these. Next journal will be a feature. Not sure of who or what, but keep watching this space.

Long story short, I'm getting a credit card soon and I need something to spend money on. Obviously a subscription and some prints, but what else is there that is just waiting for me to order it. If you have good suggestions (or even bad ones) I'd love to hear.
